GUIDANCE WASH :
Wash nappiesprior to first use to remove residues left behind from fabric manufacture, preferably 5-6 times. This will also allow them to reach peak absorbency (think of them like a new towel)
Dry paling recommended - soaking not required as it will wear the nappyout faster.
If the nappy has been soiled, rinse into a bucket and then tip bucket contents down the toilet and flush. (I finddisposable nappy liners great as I can dispose of any waste easily)
Do not use bleach, nappy soakers, detergents with enzymes or fabric softeners!
Use 1/2 to 3/4amount of usual detergent.
Every few months strip clean nappies by first washingyour clean nappies in hot water (no hotter than 60°C) with no detergent filled up to a high level. Then wash your nappies again using a small amount of dishwashing liquid (yes, the one you use on your dishes - one that has no moisturiser). Rinse as many times as necessary to remove any suds.
The best way to dry cloth nappies is in the sun– sunlight naturally bleaches the nappies to remove any remaining stains and this method is also better for the environment. But, you can also dry them in the dryer as long as the temperature islow.
